A BIG congratulations to Nina and Dr. Hodge on their wedding!

Because of busy schedules and winter weather, the Weston Family Christmas party was held on January 9th!

Benny and Jan hosted the party at their home in Vienna. Those attending were Eddie and Susan; Dr Hodges and Nina; Rylan, Ashley, Ethan and Ryley; Todd and Jacob; Brent, Elizabeth, Dalton and Carter; Andy, Courtney, Noah, and Emma; Chad, Brittani, and Ellie; and, Brandon and Megan.

We hear that everyone had a great time!

Joanna has gone back to school to take her last prerequisite for her nursing anesthetist degree, good luck Jo!

 

Johnny is playing basketball this season an scored 4 points and had over 10 rebound in his last game!

Alicia will be performing as a nun in the musical The Sound of Music at her school in a few weeks! Good luck to her!  
We like the idea of her being a nun so she can't really start dating when she turns 16 next month (which is the family rule)!!!! Just teasing of course :)

Dalton is doing very well in school and his last report card had 4 A's and 3 B's!! His best subject is math like his mom :) He also has been a very successful hunter this year! He brought back 1 rabbit and 2 squirrels in one trip!

Melinda has earned her Aquatics Facilities Operator's license! She scored very well on her final exam and impressed everyone! :)

FAMILY REUNION UPDATE!

Time has flown! It is now only 5 months until our family reunion!
So, it is time to solidify plans....that means that we will need your help and suggestions!
The first thing that you probably noticed is the poll on the right hand side of the blog. We need to know what you would like to do about family t-shirts. Do you want a family t-shirt or would you rather just choose a family color for everyone to wear?
Christina has been researching prices and we do think that we can get the shirts for about $5 each IF we order at least 30. If we choose the family t-shirt, we will offer you at least three different styles to choose from. Yep, you will get to vote again! :)
The following is our basic reunion outline/schedule:
We will meet at 10am on SATURDAY, June 25th, at the Lake of Egypt.
Eddie and Susan have made arrangements to rent the pavilion and Eddie's boat will be available for family use.
We are planning a family picture at 10:30am. We hope that EVERYONE will be present for that picture! The photographer can offer the option of other family group pictures if we choose, such as cousins, individual families, etc. Benny is checking with a photographer in Marion to see if he is available on that date. If anyone else has a photographer they know that might be interested, let's compare prices and availability. Who wants to be the committee chairman for that?
Eddie and Benny have planned a simple picnic lunch....burgers, brauts, chips, and drinks. It is summer and it will be hot! But, if there is anyone who would like to be in charge of the food committee and have additional items, please let us know.
The afternoon should be full of fun activities and time to "visit" with families members. The only thing that we have planned is family boat rides and games of horseshoes. We would like to ask for two or three family members to be the activities committee and plan a few more games and activities. We will have a lot of children and we need to keep them busy and safe!
Benny is arranging for port-a-potties to be near the pavilion! It seems like Eddie and Benny have thought of nearly everything! :)
We have not planned on a dinner for that day. Because we start at 10am, and the weather may be hot, everyone might be ready for home and the air conditioner by 4 or 5pm. What do you think?
SUNDAY, June 26th
For those who would like to join us, many fmily members are planning to attend the Cairo Baptist Church at 10:30am on Sunday. This is the church that "Jiggs" and Christine attended and we have many memories of weddings and funerals officated by Rev Larry Potts. He is almost part of the family.
For lunch, we will be meeting at Giant City Lodge at 1pm. Eddie and Susan are arranging for us to have the banquet room. We will let you know about the menu and meal prices in the near future.
Eddie, Gary, Benny, and I enjoyed special family dinners there with our parents. Now, we can make more wonderful memories with our larger family! :)
It is only a thirty minute drive from Giant City Lodge to The Lake of Egypt. We will resume our boating and activities for the afternoon.
This is just the basic outline. We are certainly open to any and all suggestions. This is a FAMILY reunion and the more family members involved, the better!
We will be discussing other reunion mementos in next months blog.
In the meanwhile, please let us know what you envision as our family reunion and, as I said, any suggestions are very welcome!
